Having picked the car up Saturday morning I was a little worried about the run flats. Having now driven 1200 miles I can not actually see the problem. Mileage has been a mixture of motorway, country back roads (South Wales) and to day a 350 mile round trip to central London and back.

It is exactly what I would expect with sports suspension and low profile tyres. Felt sorry for Audi A4 convertible on the side of the M4 with an offside flat.

As an aside average fuel consumption to London and back was 39mpg excellent.

Interesting. What make of tyre is on your E60?

Mine is a 2004 with Goodyear NCT on 17" rims.

I think there has been a lot of progress with run-flats over the last year but for some reason, the E90 appears to be better suited to the run-flat tyres wheras the E60 still struggles. When I collected my car last year and drove it for the first time on RF's, I thought - 'what are prople on about. These RF's are fine'.

Only when I test drove a 523 with NRF's last month I thought - those people ARE right. The RF's are CRAP. I couldn't believe how much better the ride was. There is a coarse-ness with the run-flats that wasn't there on the standard tyres. Everything seems to be accentuated through the tyre wall.

My new E60 is due in on July 27 and I am 99% sure I'll change to standard tyres. Knowing my luck, I'll probably pick up a nail on the way out of the garage.

I am perfectly happy with my Goodyear Eagle Run Flats on 18" sports suspension - the ride is no worse than the Audi A4 sports Cabrio I had 03/04. In fact my car is running superbly at the moment.

I too have the Goodyear NCT's on 18" wheels with sport suspension and have no complaint about either noise or ride.

I had 17" rims and Conti sports and sport suspension on my E39 and they were awfull.

The Goodyears are far superior when compared to the Conti's.
