My Ride: Past: 98 M3, '00 Carrera Cab Present:'06 Titan and '65 Dodge Coronet Future: E90 M3 or CTS-V or GT-R. On order for the wife: AW 535xi expected last week in June

Just ordered my wife a 535xi with the split, fold down rear seat/skibag option at a cost of $475. We may never need it, but if we do I'll feel like it was worth it.

I have the split folding rear seats option on my US spec e60. It is a great option to have. I highly recommend it.

In the standard seats on the EU spec cars the back is completely fixed, none of the seats can fold down. Infact the boot in this case becomes completely sealed and the back of the seats are one metal sheet. You get the opening, ski bag and the fold down seats only with the Through Load option. I agree its one of the more useful options that if you dont take you will probably have an incident one day where you will kick yourself for not getting it - and I'm not even talking about people who thought they should have taken this just to be able to stick a big subwoofer into the ski hatch!

IMHO it should have been standard and not an option.
Agree with your summary 100%. I also think it is disgusting that this is not included as standard on a car of this value (especially when virtually all euro cars costing about half the price have this feature as standard).

However, I deliberately took the view not to spec this as I can never get into the situation of trying to get large / long objectives into the car risking ripping the leather seats etc. If I know I will need the seats to be folded I use my wife's car.

My fold down seats are amongst the most useful of the options.

If I didn't have them I would need a y'all Hual to tote Mrs. sixcard on extended trips.
