The only concern I would have about owning a 535 is maintenance costs once out of warranty. Turbos needing replacing, HPFPs, and walnut blasting etc just to mention a few.... I don't know a whole lot about the N54/55 motors, but I don't see them as being very reliable, particularly for long term ownership.

I understand the hesitation with turbos..but turbo technology has come a long way since the 70s when they were expected to give out in under 100K. My last turbo diesel had 210K when I sold it last year. Keep the oil changed and air filter clean and they should last..of course chip programmers etc can shorten the life if attention isn't paid to the exhaust gas temp etc..

Hope I didn't just jinx myself.

FWIW, the turbo warranty on the 535i was extended due to wastegate issues 8 years/82K miles. The HPFP is 10 years/120K. Very little to worry about on these cars with the extended warranties. I have had my 535i since May and no issues to speak of it. I absolutley adore it as a daily driver. Undoubtedly the best car I've had!

I've owned Turbo Audi A4's and S4's before they went to V8's and now have a 535i. As long as the oil is changed regularly and you allow for proper cool down (if you are doing hard boosting for long periods of time) then you should have NO turbo issues. Of course there are the random failed turbos in early life stages, but that randomly happens to almost all car manufacturers. The 335i and 535i are BEASTS. All you need is a tune alone and you are pushing 400HP. In my opinion that's not too shabby for a computer/ecu mod alone. As far as the body kit, you can always add the MTech kit afterwards. There are vendors here that sell them.
