Default Thoughts On Coolant Brand

What are everyone's thoughts on coolant in your vehicle? Is it bad form to use any 50/50 mixed coolant other than BMW house brand?

It's not only using the correct brand. The important part is making sure you use distilled water. These engines/radiators will work fine without the distilled but over time will damage it. Do not cheap out and go get 50/50 if you are planning to keep your car for a long time. You can also use the Pentofrost. 1 Gallon will be all you need.

I've only ever bought 50/50 mix.

Are you not having cooling issues yourself? You might want to change it up once you figure your issue out.

Using the proper 50/50 mix coolant is fine. As long as the coolant is for "European" cars you won't have any problems. As for the use of distilled water with full strength coolant, that is not necessary. Just make sure that the water is at least softened tap water - the coolants are designed to handle moderately hard water.

I have been using predstone 50/50 for European cars and from what I can tell so far it is doing its job, I do plan on doing a flush soon so maybe ill look into a different brand then.

I have no idea if the specific brand matters. But for no more often than coolant is required, I just buy the BMW brand stuff and don't have to worry about it.
