Please just report back honestly after 15,000 miles.
I'm after 65K kms on two sets of RFT summer tires (let's say that 20% of this distance I rode with the winter tires, which an non-RFT Continentals TS790), staggered Dunlops, SP Sport 01 DSST. I do not see any problems with them, nor did I see that around 15K miles (or 25K kms) they would become noisier.

The challenge is where to put the dead wheel so that your car doesn't get covered in crap. Carry a tarp?
Well, I do carry around a huge nylon bag from the tire shop (they are using these when I change from winter to summer and back, to pack up the tires I replaced - I asked for one extra). It fits nicely under the carpet in the trunk and I get it out if I need to put on the spare and tuck the big wheel in the car.

Actually, I learned my lesson that even if you have RFTs it's not necessary/recommended to ride on a flat tire 100kms as I did (because I was too lazy and too tired to change the wheel). I am grateful that it was possible to go on a flat tire to my destination, but I ruined the RFT tire in the process. You should always change to the donut spare if/when possible.
