Very hard choices there friend. As a daily driver either the M5 or DB9. I can deal with the idrive and being the BMW lover I am the choice is clear,... M5 all the way.

Cheers all ... we are in the process of moving house at the moment as well, due to move in January, so new car is #2 on the shopping list
Hadn't considered the Maserati actually - will go and do some "googling" !

If you don't need that much space you may consider the M6 over the M5.
And have you driven the F01 750i already? The chassis is as sporty as an E60, and the twin turbo V8 is fantastic. It's not a sports car, but a test drive never hurts.
The Quatroporte is a fantastic car, but keep in mind that it's italian design under the skin, not BMW engineering. Depreciation is also very high but you probably won't worry too much about that. Personally I'd choose the 750i over a quatroporte.
The Ferarri is a fabulous car, but I wouldn't buy it if it was supposed to be my only car.
If you can wait, the Porsche Panamera may be a nice option.
Personally I wouldn't go for the AMG S-class types, they're a bit too heavy and bulky.
Good luck with your tough choice...

Anyway ... big question ... as I've been away for so long, is the M5 going to get the new iDrive with the built in hard drive? The current iDrive is SO outdated now. I have the Nav DVD with the UK postcodes in it, but it's just so damn slow - takes a good 2 to 3 minutes to type in a postcode and plan a route. So embarrasing when mate in his Fiesta punches a postcode in to his ?200 TomTom which routes in about 3 seconds. If we aren't going to see the HDD iDrive until the F10 comes out, I expect I'll end up moving away from BMW.

Porsche Panamera, nah, not my style either.
I think the DB9 is currently top of the list, closely followed by an E60 M5.

Never been a fan of the 6 series, don't like the looks of it at all. Considered the 750 but it's a big car and again, not so keen on the looks. Not a patch on the E60, and if the F10 follows the design of the new 7, I won't be getting one. Was never a fan of the previous 5 series, the E60 is the first BMW I ever liked the looks off, and then the new X5 as well. The current 3, the new 7, the 6 ... and the 1 (bleurgh), all very different styles to the E60!!

M5 or DB9, very different cars.
"High tech" vs "Modern classic"
If you want people admiring your car for its looks, go for the DB9.
If you're a gadget freak, go for the M5.
If you want the most classy car, go for the DB9.
If you're a perfectionist and can't accept a single Ford Mondeo button, go for the M5.
If you prefer V12 smoothness and sound over a V10 race engine, go for the DB9.
etc etc etc
You can't go wrong with either one. Good luck.
