Many thanks for the feedback, it is greatly appreciated. I have contacted the dealer and ordered the satellite radio. The "tighter" steering is a big factor for me. I find the active steering to sensitive at lower speeds for my taste. Thanks again guys, that is all good information.
I really think BMW should have a tuning option in iDrive for the active steering... The sensitivity and assistance could be fine tuned to your liking.

Could be to do with the 'simplification' done on iDrive after the slating on the 7-series...

welcome aboard, sade60 ! i have a 530 and have a similar problem as yours. my tech test drove two other e60 and he told me all of them drive the same. and he said it's normal since the car starts from 2nd gear instead of 1st when in d mode. that means they are not going to do anything .

Thanks alohalc and Iceman for the welcome.
So alohalc, are you accepting that condition ? What made me frustrated is that BMW is denying that this is a problem and I had been led through 2 s/w upgrades done which they told me would solve the problem but didn't.

Any advice for me, anyone?

i have to be "nice" to my dealer since there is only one on this island . i'm hoping for the new ver 15 will fix this . i went through and am going through something worse than "just" the delay problem .

I've just got my car back.
The software update (14) was redone and now everythign is fine!!!
I can't believe it, but it's true...
The delay on the gas pedal is the same as before the first software update, so it's OK, but not perfectly fixed. The start up and shut down of idrive is almost as before the first update, just a little bit slower...
My SA drove the car to find out about the gas pedal response, and he didn't felt it's too late... But guess what... I was driving his car as a loaner (520) and it's worse... No wonder he doesn't feel my delay... I guess that's the problem for the most dealers, that the most E60's have the delay, so they don't notice it as wrong.
Hey, BTW... his 520 had BT... WOW! GREAT! This is good stuff!!! Had access to my phone book, could even connect while I was talking and it switched to the car... Everything worked great with the BT... KEWL!

My dealer just told me that another upgrade is in - they just received the "diskette". But he mentioned that it was for the engine management and not the transmission system. However, he did say that it will solve the gear shift hesitation. Not exactly sure how he links the two. btw, he refuse to tell me my current software version and claims that they do not follow the same system in Europe of N. America - to which I think is really BS. Let share the experience after the upgrade ! Cheers.
