Thinking about buying a 535i need help
Hi everyone. I currently have a 2004 525i with the 2.5 in it. I love the car and the looks but defiantly does not have the hp I would like. Recently my car developed a valve cover oil leak and transmission has been acting funny. Had the passenger system retraint fault come on the I drive. Car has currently 143k miles. It also has the sport package. I have been looking at a dealership and found a nice 2008 535i with 60k miles. The only it doesn't have as an option is the sport package. I would really like one of these e60s with the twin turbo but don't know if I'll miss having the sport package. I love the way my car currently feels on the road. Is it worth getting the 535i without the sport package? If I add some better shocks, aftermarket lowering springs and some good tires will it feel close to having the sport package? Thanks

I am on my second E60, a 535i with Sport and Active Steering. My first E60 was a 530i with Sport and Active Steering. Having owned E36 non-sport and E90 sport, I'd say Sport is the only way to go. The factory Sport suspension, steering ratio, and steering wheel is very well put together. There are some who would prefer the more supple non-sport suspension. You'd really have to test drive the vehicle yourself.

It is your call. Test drive both versions before deciding.
The 535i sports package is not just suspension related. You get shadow line trim, great seats, steering wheel, etc. Also consider ARS, a sport AT with paddle shifters and active steering while you are at it. By now there should not be much of a price premium for these goodies any longer.

Couldn't imagine my e60 535i without the sport goodies...much less without the magical sport button that turns the car into a beast. I know you can configure that button on non-sports but..I would rather have it all. Good luck
