Can someone point me to the procedure to change out the thermostat on a 545i. It can't be too hard the dealer only wants to charge me $300.00
Do I need drain the entire coolant system to do this?

No you dont need to drain the entire coolant but you will lose a couple gallons. I watched a buddy of mine (a BMW Tech) do this for me on my 545i... it can be tricky because there is a bolt or two on the backside of the t-stat that is tough to access. It did take some wrestling with a long screwdriver as well to pry the old away and position the new one. My dealer wanted $490 for it - I would say let them do it for $300!

Thanks for the info I've already ordered the TS and need to by the BMW coolant. I'll post on the difficulty of the job. I need to save the $200 in labor costs.
