I've got a 545i W/ sport package that comes with Active Roll Stabilization. Is there a popular sway bar package out there that is superior to this? Is it practical considering there may be cumputer sensors involved with the stock setup?

Thanks,

Dean

Dinan did have an upgrade... but I don't see it any more. They were new Mounts for the "ARS"

Can't just swap sways out....

Just curious what, if any, are your complaints with ARS?

What wheels/tires are you running?

No real complaints. In fact I've been pretty happy with my handling. I've got a 545 auto sport with staggered 18's and dunlop dirrezza's. I thought my car handled great until a recent autocross I got a ride in a 1988 M3, modified w/ r compound 225 tires all around. I could'nt believe the cornering forces and traction this car had. My helmet was wacking into his door frame during hard corners. It was a real eye opener.

I can't remember anyone upgrading the sport model active sway bar system. Inquiring minds want to know.

no matter what you change/do, a 5 series will never come close to handling like the old m3. the m3 is a lot smaller and lighter.

That is true you are comparing a lightweight 3 series which is arguably one of the best weekend track cars vs. a 3900 lb+ Sedan full of features. If you can even mention the 545 and 550i in the same sentence with an '88 M3 than I think BMW has done there job with the 5 Series.

But I would say if you want to increase the already good handling you should buy R-Comps for your 545i or buy a porsche and put R-Comps on it as well

The reason for the ARS is that the car stays flatter in turns but lets the suspension be more compliant while going straight. You can definatley get a better setup for autocross, but you will lose compliance on the street. I do agree that you still wont have the handling of the 88 M3.
