ive been driving around my new e60 for about 5 weeks now. when i was getting the
car, i was thinking of geting 525 w/out sports pak and put new rims but then my salesman said i have 2 wait a week or two. so what he was saying was they have 525s with sports pak so he asked me if thats ok so i just bougth it nextday but then later, i found out that 525 w/sports pak and 530 w/o's prices were about the same. so i was pissed off that how come he never asked me 4 an 530?instead of 525 sports???cause i told him i dont need sports pak anyway...they had 530s in stock w/ color i wanted. so i was so angry and had bad feelings 4 few weeks with driving a new car. and im stil thinkng of 530 and gets mad when i see 530s on the street.also regret that i never serched of 530's~~~... so guys, is there a big difference between those two in performance or its not a big deal 2 get mad about???i never drove a 530 before..... thanx 4 readng my long and boring question~~ |
hmmm...nothing wrong w/525 and to be honest, 530 is a bit better. but not to the point that you have to be so upset and want to trade in for a 530. unless your car is starting to give you troubles like suebmw's .

Performance 530i 525i
Acceleration 0-100km/h: 7.1 s 8.7 s Acceleration 0-1000m: 27.3 s 29.0 s Maximum Speed: 242 km/h 230 km/h Above figures quoted from BMW website. Not that huge a difference when driving. It's only if you plan to burn rubber from a standing start that you'd notice it. :) |
JiMmY912,
I've been in the same situation with Diesel. I've tested a 525d and a 530d, you'll only know the difference when you put the pedal to the metal. In normal driving circumstances you won't notice the difference. I preferred to spend a part of my money on the options instead of extra hp. I guess I'll have more fun and pleasure of the extra options then the bigger engine. However if money is not an issue then the engine can't be big enough. G |
Nothing wrong with the 520 either, just alot slower but drinks alot less gas.....lol.

thnx 4 the answers guyz~~ guess i'll just stick wit mah car and be satisfied with
sports suspenetion and the seats instead of 5 Liter bigger engine....guess 525i is gud enough 4 21yr old,i'll just think that way~~... maybe i'l get 530 or 545 next time~ |
Based on my 530 with the sports pkg., I think you'll really enjoy the "sled on rails" handling. Also, the sport mode in the steptronic really "steps" up the response.
If you can afford to trade it in, I would get the 545. Both the 525 and the 530 need about 40-50 more hp. My advice, just enjoy the ride and have fun. If you happen to get married, the wife can drive the 525 and you can plan for your next purchase. Since my wife will be driving our 530, she really can't complain about what I buy next. |
I drove both before buying and found no difference with conservative driving because the sales rep was in the car both times. 530 is fun to drive once its moving, but it isn't a rocket in the straights. 525 is the same way. Put them in 1st gear and you can leave most everyone behind anyway (that isn't trying to race).
530 raises fun factor up a notch and 545 raises it several notches and I expect the M5 will raise it a hundred notches. :wow: |
