Thank you for the response. A little background. First Bimmer was a Model 2002 purchased in 1970. When I brought it home my wife said it was the ugliest car she had seen. Ten years later I had to pry it out of her hands. Next came a 1990 E30 coupe, then a 95 525i, then a 1997 328ic, a 2005 325i, and lastly a 1999 740iL. What I need now is what should I look for in the process of getting a replacement for the 740iL? Any particular problems that come to mind? The 2005 5 series appleals to me since I don't want to go much over $20K. I think I am in love with the dark blue fiver. I recently replaced the thermostat on the 05 3 series. In my day as an old fart 5 bucks did it. Now its a $100+ installation. Might as well replace the water pump impeller (plastic) with a metal one. I assume the 6 cylinder 05 5 series is the same. Enough rambling. I'd appreciate any info. Thanks again
