I've been posting questions for awhile now and all of you have been great with your responses. We were debating between an E60 and MB350. We settled on the BMW but not an E60. I was browsing some other forums and saw and ad near us and went to look at the car. It is an '03 M5 in Carbon Black. It was too good of a deal on a really nice car to pass up. So, we ended up making a deal that night. So, no E60 but an E39 with a 396hp motor. Thanks again for all the responses to my questions. Maybe in a few years, a new F body will appear in our driveway!
CLASSIC !!! great car ! enjoy it !

I suppose the comments about either loving or disliking (I'd never say hate) the E60 is true. I've always loved the E39 but was only warm to the E60. I just couldn't really get into it. So, when the opportunity to buy a very clean '03 came up, and it being an M as well, I had to pull the trigger after driving it. So, got an M in our favorite body style, in our favorite color combo, saved $15-$20k, and my insurance is the same as if I bought an '06 530! Now I can bank the money and earmark it for a new F 10 body in about 4 years when they get all the bugs worked out.

I'm sure plenty of us were scratching our heads when the E60 came out, I know it took me a long time to warm up to it especially the tail end.........everytime I see an e39 M5 I say that's a beautiful and classic car , almost timeless. It actually is quite cool that you will have the E39 for the exit of the E60 and launch of the F10, great choice and great timing, how about a few pics ??

There are indeed some real nice M5's around. The trick is to find out where they are hiding. The other trick is to find out where the one's that haven't been abused are. Many of the M's running around have been totally trashed. Everyone runs the M hard or fast once and awhile but some people drag em and that really tears up the drivetrain. I actually saw the service record on the M and it was pretty short and nothing major was complained about.
