Just had a new temperature guage installed and I cannot remember if my old left and right temperature knobs were illuminated in a similiar fashion as the fan knob?

The fan knob appears to have LED's so my question is when you turn up/down the temperature knobs should there be a led indicator indicating what level the temperature is at?

Its a 2006 550 (US), Sports Package and Premium Package

Nope. I assume it's the same that my '06 650i was, and the same for LCI models. The temp knobs have a white line pointing to the selected temp. It's easier to see at night glowing orange. The fan speed doesn't indicate the fan speed in auto mode but if you turn the knob, a green bar lights up at the speed its at.

Here compares night time shots of the '06 650i and the '08 550i.
Note the orange bars on the temp knobs. Don't confuse them with the brighter glare spot on each.

Thanks for the peace of mind, as I had to replace my old unit which was perfectly fine (long story) and asked the dealer to leave my old unit in my trunk. So my first question was whether all the knobs lit up as for some reason I thought that they did but noticed that the new one installed did not. So I checked the one in my truck and noticed that it appeared to be exactly the same as the one installed. So then I was wondering if the dealer took my old unit which I thought had all lighted LED dials and gave me an old one that did not.

I don't trust dealerships.

And, thanks again as I was about to give them a call tomorrow.
