3 Months??? Bloody Hell! Wouldn't it be more cost effective for the insurance company to just total it?? That's just nuts!!!

Sorry to hear that; I didn't want to speculate but that's not that unusual for major collision damage. Most shops that are capable of that kind of repair as your guy seems to be are also busy especially this time of year...sux either way.

Allstate insurance???? were they not advertising the "new car replacement" if you get into an accident and you get the full amount instead of the depreciated amount??? I just saw numerous allstate ads on tv.

When does your car rental insurance run out? My was good for 30 days.

For what it is worth that is not a 30 day job if they have the parts and they work straight through. I would find a different body shop.

Another example of ALLstate (aka ALLsnake/ALLheart) at work. They spend their money on advertising, and very little paying on claims for their own insureds.

They're typically quite horrible, not only to liability claimants, but to their own insureds as well.

Dont just take my word on it - they just had their right to write new policies SUSPENDED this week in the State of Florida by the Florida insurance commissioner. Check it out, the story is online...

Remember, even if your own rental coverage runs out, the guy who clocked you owes you "loss of use", meaning he has to pay the value of a fair rental for the time your car is down, so long as reasonable progress is being made.

The extended rental would be paid for by the other carrier, if not the whole rental charge because they hit you...you may have to lay out the $$ to the rental company because you are driving the car, but you'll get it all back. Once an insurer accepts culpability as I think you said in an earlier post, they write the check pretty quickly, even for your deductible. It's all just an inconvenience and a royal pain in the ass.

Not to hijack the thread, but having been through Katrina down here in New Orleans, I will say a HUGE +1 to this...

might be a bit difficult moving a car thats in that many peices - also it might complicate the insurance settlement further - working out how much each shop could charge for the job so far..... then if it all went wrong, the repairing shop would blame the other shop that stripped it down.....
