UPDATE:
The estimate for repairs stands at $27K. As all of you saw in the photos, I was hit on the left front. When I went down to see my car last week, there is actually a bend in the firewall on the other side of the car! Shouldn't the car be totalled if there is any damage to the firewall at all? Can a firewall be straightened and the integrity of the wall still be the same afterwards?

Ask them if the "Johnson Rod" is intact...tell them that Puddy told you its at least a $20k procedure to fix. haha

That's what I said in a previous post; Firewall/cowl damage along with the rest IMHO is a good argument to total the car. It'll drive ok when they are done, but frankly I wouldn't want it. That said, it probably won't get you anywhere. The body shop wants to repair it vs. total it; more $ for them. Be glad it's a lease because BMW/leasing company has to approve it...they own it, you're just renting it.

What he means is that after my BMW is repaired at this BMW-certified repair center, my car then has to be inspected by BMW before I get the car back. The complete process may take 6 weeks or so! Since I am leasing this car, it may be in BMW's best interest to push to have it totalled since they own the car and will have to deal with the significantly reduced value at lease end.
