it may be a bitch in the 535, it does the "one wheel peel". it was much easier in my 11 second mustang with auburn posi rear.
i havent tried it in the bmw but essentially you want to ride your breaks enough so that your car just barely moves. i mean 1 mph...
Hold your breaks down so the car doesnt budge, throw it in DS and punch the gas... start inching forward (1 mph) and cut your wheel to the left, i suggest this because your right wheel should be the one spinning... this will throw you into a slow controlled doughnut, you are gonna just cut the wheel the other way to get the car to spin the other way. when you come out of your doughnut, let off the break just a little and let the car inch forward about 3-4 feet, then cut the wheel the oppisite way and repeat until desired tread is gone.
this will burn up massive amounts of rubber and prob isnt worth it. the idea is to move slow and when in the doughnut, your INSIDE wheel (depending on which way you are turning) is a "pivot" wheel.
for added smoke and easy of spinning tires, add anti freeze to the ground. works better than bleach. oh yeah, dont forget step one... disable DTC

btw, I DO condone this type of retardedness, as long as its in a controlled environment like a grocery store parking lot after it is closed. haha. funny thing is, if you are older than say 17, the cop wont believe his eyes when he stops you, especially when you hand him the registration card and the car isnt in your parents name!

is it completely open diff or limited slip? if it is open diff, it can be done, but now you have to go fast and swing the car into a doughnut each way and you wont get a real figure 8, rather a sloppy looking figure eight

Don't feel bad, that's why I still have & love mine! Actually, the first response should be enough to get you going slideways. Have fun, and be prepared to get your foot off the gas and onto the brake if the car surprises you. Things happen fast when you're playing with horsepower in tighter confines.
