Try another dealership....you'd be surprised how many different answer you'll get to the same q....

GL
Unfortunately, I spoke to BMW Canada Customer Support and they said that they contacted BMW Germany and they told them that the option cannot be retrofitted. Although BMW sells a kit to add the camera on cars that don't have it installed

drive across the border and have a US dealer retrofit it for you

So why did BMW Germany told my dealer it is possible then?

I'd really ask another dealer!

The ability to add the backup camera retrofit kit depends on the options on your particular car, some cars can be retrofitted and some cannot. There is an option package that is already in the car which will make this addition possible. I looked into the matter, and the parts department showed me that information......... Really knowledgeable, efficient and accommodating group at Beverly Hills BMW.

The official response from BMW Canada:

Thank you for contacting BMW Canada. We appreciate your interest in our vehicles.

Night Vision was on factory back order for several weeks and has since become unavailable. This version was able to be installed at your local BMW retailer, but if it becomes available again, it may only be able to be installed at the factory. We have no further information about Night Vision at this time.

If you have any further questions or concerns, we would be happy to provide assistance. Please respond directly to this email or contact us at 1-800-3000-BMW.

Sincerely,
BMW Canada

that is interesting.... I can't believe that BMW Canada told that.

If you go realoem.com and you will see there is a clearly retrofit:

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?mo...hg=66&fg=05 (the kit) or

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?mo...hg=66&fg=05 (the camera) + ACM module (http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...55&hg=65&fg=95)

Maybe print them and show them to the dealers.

Since you are in Ottawa and close to US border, maybe go crossing the border and get the US dealer (maybe call them first and ask)

Are you sure you'll use night vision? I've got it and it is the most useless extra by far. Massively impractical and a lot of money. I'm assuming a retro fit will be even more costly. Anyway, thought I'd mention before you departed with your dough.
