i had the same problem witht he static, what the dealership did was bipass the communications part of teh tcu so i dont have communications anymore but everything else in the tcu still worked.........problem is now i went to another dealership and they're telln me i should get a new one cuz if i bipass it like that he said theres a chance the sum of my other memory and computerized things might get screwed up ...can anyone confirm this? im really stuck on if i should get a new one or just keep it bi passed, thanks.
Yeah I would like more info too. Today I booked an appt for July 14 to "bypass" the TCU just like you described for $500. I would like as much info as possible on this before this date...much appreciated.

$500 is way too expensive. You're better off buying a used TCU and switch out the old one by yourself. It's not that difficult to unplug and replug a few wires.

Can you take a photo of what the TCU looks like with the bypass in place. My radio is skipping (FM, AM, and CD) and I get the SOS malfuntion message. Both items happened at the same time. I don't care about bluetooth and the car is out of warranty so I would like to try the TCU bypass.

i dont have it bypassed nemore the dealership i went to un did it to get the sos malfunction warning off but now my stereo skips n makes that sound again they said they dont wana by pass it again cuz if u do it a 2nd time it mite screw stuff up in the car so now im forced to by a new tcu ....which is costing me 1300 cdn but ive found teh exact part on a website for under 600, im pretty sure this dealership is ripping me off but it was my fault i didnt bring it back to the original dealer that by passed it.... if u jus go in and ask em u need it bypassed im sure they know what it is, its a 20 min job.
