i had the same problem witht he static, what the dealership did was bipass the communications part of teh tcu so i dont have communications anymore but everything else in the tcu still worked.........problem is now i went to another dealership and they're telln me i should get a new one cuz if i bipass it like that he said theres a chance the sum of my other memory and computerized things might get screwed up ...can anyone confirm this? im really stuck on if i should get a new one or just keep it bi passed, thanks.

Yeah I would like more info too. Today I booked an appt for July 14 to "bypass" the TCU just like you described for $500. I would like as much info as possible on this before this date...much appreciated.

it shouldnt b 500 to by pass it its a real quick job and the dealership did it for free.....but ya i wish sumone could give me alil more info if its really bad to have the tcu unit bipassed or if i should just replace the whole thing....cuz i havent had ne probs yet since it was bipassed

Can you take a photo of what the TCU looks like with the bypass in place. My radio is skipping (FM, AM, and CD) and I get the SOS malfuntion message. Both items happened at the same time. I don't care about bluetooth and the car is out of warranty so I would like to try the TCU bypass.
