My 550 is an April 06 build. I don't know the progman version but I know 600 releases have come out since my car was made. Nothing really wrong with car but I don't have current menus and I don't have the daytime driving light on / off feature. I don't have the ipod scrolling feature that Rudy mentions.
Should I make up a story like my cd player doesnt shut down or what is the best current "story" to feed the service writer to get the software update done for free?
Thanks...

Veight - I followed a similar strategy - told of a problem (nav arrow on HUD would disappear) and gave the service bullitin number and got a reprogram without any questions. Go for it!

Yes Veight,
Demand the Progman V27.2 update, I think it's the latest.
It will do your 550i good.

My Ride: 2006 520d Msport, Silver Grey, Amethyst Dakota Leather, 19" Mixed alloys, Media Pack, Visibility pack, Electric Memory seats, Heated Seats, Folding mirrors.
2007 320d Msport Touring, Sparkling Graphite, Lemon Dakota Leather, Comfort Access, Heated Seats.
Westfield Megablade, Honda Fireblade 919cc engine, 135 BHP, 416 Kgs, FAST!!
My car is a Feb 2006 build, and like yours has never had any updates. My thoughts are that as there is nothing wrong with it I will leave it well alone, particuarly after some of the horror stories I have read on here about the problems people have had AFTER updates!

Do you still happen to have the service bulletin number on that?
Thanks,

My Ride: 2008 Sapphire Black on Black M5 - loaded sans soft close doors
DO NOT DO IT
I had CIP 19, and now am at PROGMAN 26.... yes, my I-Drive boots much faster and I have the new pretty screens and POI....however..
My phone now takes FOREVER to pair and my steering (Active) is now overboosted. If I could do it over again, I would stick with CIP 19. Dean Petersen at Patrick warned me not to mess with something that worked, but I so wanted faster response time from the I-drive upon boot. Now I have that with other issues.....
Including
Random feature with IPod goes away the minute you select another song (the good news is you do not have to reselect the song playing in order to switch out of random - the bad news is that you always have to re-select random).

Yipes. I don't like hearing this. I too was bringing mine in on Monday for the missing Pop-up arrow in the NAV screen to get the latest Progman, per this bulletin. Anyone else?? How is v27.2, does it solve doug_999's issues?
