My Ride: 535d Eccelsa, 05 2005 (built 12-04), sapphireblack, beige dakota leather, electric seats, poplar wood trim, sport suspension, 124 style 18" alloys, differentiated f/r runflat tyres, steptronic, adaptive light control, bi-xenon, BMW PRO nav, cd, cd changer, electric-foldable and automatic antidazzle rear mirrors, automatic antidazzle internal rear mirror, adjustable central armrest, BT, Hifi Professional LOGIC7 , extended functions aircon, full lighting package, green comfort fascia on windshield, PDC park distance control, voice control, CPT9000 car phone, BMW Assist, BMW On-line, BMW Tracking, alarm system, programmable remote controls.
Default

After eight months of frustration and several weeks spent in the workshop, due to many irritating problems (groaning doors, rattling dashboard, squeecking seats and more), today I reached an acceptable agreement with the dealer to switch my 530d with a new 535d.
The reason to insist with a BMW is that I simply love the E60 driving characteristics and, having used several different E60 in the past months, I know for a fact that most of them are trouble-free as far as assembling problems are concerned.

I opted for a car already in stock:

535d Eccelsa (top of the range, in Italy)

metallic black, beige dakota leather, light poplar wood trim, professional nav, tv, active steering, dynamic drive, professional radio, 6 cd changer, advanced air/con, dual band integrated mobile phone, voice control, 18" alloys style 124 with differentiated front/rear tyres, sport suspension, pdc, adaptive lights, bi-xenon with high-pressure cleaning system, steptronic, full lighting package, sport steering wheel, automatic anti-glaring mirror, electric foldable and anti-glaring external rear mirrors, full electric front seats with memory function, electric adjustable (height and depth) steering wheel.

It has most, if not all, the options I would have ordered in any case. The only thing I'm not really happy with is the color combination: I like the metallic black body, but I suspect that a beige leather interior could be a little bit too much "dandy"; a dark grey interior is a much sportier combination.
What do you think? Anybody here has a black body/beige interior combination?

I have the black/beige combo. It's probably the hardest combo there is to maintain. But when it's clean it's lovely!
It looks more 'exclusive' than 'sporty'. I have shadowline and that helps up the sportyness a bit. And if you'll add a window tint it will look almost as sporty as black/black.

Congrats on your new order! Post pics!

Nah thats not dandy. I have an ultra macho Titanium grey car right now, but if they made a color that I wanted with the beige interior I would go for it. It looks so much better with poplar wood.

My actual car is a 530d, May 2004, silbergrau with beige Dakota leather interiors. So I know well the problem to keep the beige interior clean. But is a fact that, when well clean, it appears very luxurious!

Yesterday I received a copy of the full spec of the car. There are a number of differences from the first list received:
-steering wheel is not sport but standard "eccelsa" version (?)
-bonnet grilles are chromed (as per 545i)
-full alarm system is installed
-BMW Assist, BMW Online, BMW Tracking systems are included with one year of free subscription.

I'm glad to know about the option installed on my car but I guess if anybody has a direct experience of the BMW Connect package. How does it work? Is it useful ? I'm especially interested in the capability, through the BMW Online gate, of getting and sending e-mails. Anybody can tell me?

Many thanks to everybody.

No.
BMW Online is pretty much useless, kind of a WAP access. Only sites they put on the BMW server you can access.
The emails, well, it's a pop3 access to "your name@bmw.de" in Germany, so it will be the us domain for you.
Also, not while in motion...

Useless, IMHO!
