My Ride: 2006 E60 530 xi six speed manual/Silver gray-auburn/18inch-style123wheels/premium sound and package/HUD/PDC/sport/coldpackage/Sirius/M-aero kit/Nav/comfortseats/shades/comfort access
tires: 245 40 18 Sottozero Pirelli winters (non runflats)
2004 RX330 Lexus - crystal white - reliable, quiet, and the "beater" car for ski trips, hauling, etc.
1995 E34 540i 6 speed black/truffle interior/alpinemp3/XMradio/M5 alloys (Many tears...sold to a fellow Boston bimmer enthusiast!)
My friend (who is Swedish) just returned from Europe and I guess everyone is talking about
how the E60 fully loaded failed the dreaded elk test.
His father has one on order but in Sweden the 5-series has become the butt of jokes -
Any update on if BMW made any conclusions about the test car? Was it the runflats, or the small tires on the test car?

No: the conditions of this test are suspect (car overloaded).
I was twice in real emergency situation avoiding obstacles at speed over 130 kph, and trust me, the car is realy stable and safe.

My Ride: Currently: E46 M3 -02 Topaz, SMG, HK etc (Will stay).
On order : 530d Touring TiSilver, BlackDakota Leather, M-sport Package, Comfort Seats, Logic 7, Active Stearing, Xenon, BT etc.
Not every one of us drives a Volvo
To balance things a bit, the magazine in question (Teknikens V?rld) tend to be pro BMW in general. I've read several readers letters complaining about them been to pro BMW (Probably Volvo owners )
However BMW may have relaxed the DSC programming a bit to far to obtain maximum safety (I've been really sideways with my M3 out of an roundabout at ~80 Km/h )
I and may other enthusiasts can live with that because we like the driving experiance it provides but the general focus here in Sweden (by both press an authorities) is road safety thats probably why this gets so much attention.
At least the BMW didn't end up on it's roof as the Mercedes A-class did when it first were introduced
