Oh yeah - 70's porn movie bed - just go to your dealer and have them replace rubbers down there

Hi,
My e60 has seen it all now done 168,000 miles. Your problem is lower ball joint. In the uk i prefer to call it a bush. Not one for the diy cause its on the lower rear knuckle and a big long bolt goes through it. The difficult part of the job is pressing the bush out of the knuckle. My mechanic made something to do it with. I had both mines done within a 4 week period. It starts as a squeak then if you jack the back up you will have some play in the wheel. With the correct equipment job takes about an hour a side.
Yep, just checked the ksd timings disk job is: Ball joint in rear knuckle wheel carrier 33 32 125. Timings allowed 60minutes. So if you take it to the dealer should only be charging you 1 hour per side plus part. Over here 1 ball joint cost about ?30.
Same bush is on the e39. So if you dont want to fix it now here is a tip. Put a pin hole in the rubber and spray it with wd40. Sqeaking will go. This is only a quick fix and is good if you cannot get it fixed for a couple of weeks.
Need any more info let me know.
Cheers

it is very common for this to brake. The rubber inside always crack about 40000km to 50000km
alot of HK members have also change there.
I hear that a 3rd party company has started to make them and sell them which is half the price of BMW 1s.
other thing is it mite be the rubber holding the sway bar that is old and cracked
