My dealer told me that none of the E60's sunroofs he had in the shop operate if the ignition is off or in position 1. Does anyones E60 sunroof work after the ignition is turned off? How bout a poll?

I think this is a known bug that is going to be addressed in a future (v12?) software update.
I don't think anyone's roof works as described in the manual.

After turning the ignition off I am still able to close my sun roof without any problems. My car was built somewhere in April so I guess that it is running something like version 11.x.

Johan, that's interesting.
My March production car does not allow the sunroof to close without the key in position 2. I might have received a software update when my dealer installed my CPT9000.
This may be one of those deals where it an "upgrade" caused a feature to break.
I'm still convinced it'll be fixed sooner or later.

Yeah, I hope they will fix it (I would definitely find it really annoying if it wouldn't work). Are you sure it is not a US type of thing to prevent lawsuits etc? Maybe that's why they disabled operating the sunroof with the ignition off? btw, are you able to open/close your sunroof with your remote?

Over here in the US, you can always open things! It's the closing part that causes lawsuits. (Of course that doesn't count the accidental opening of all the windows lawsuits from rogue key fobs in pockets!)
To answer your question, you can open the roof & windows using the remote or you can open and close them using the keyhole in the door. This software bug seems to affect only the roof.
If I recall correctly, my E39 allowed me to close all windows and the roof with the key off as long as I didn't open a door (as strange as that may be).
I guess my point is that I don't think it's a US thing. I think it's a bug.

Hello Rudy, I was not referring to opening the sunroof. When I turn my ignition off I am still able to close my sunroof. Just wanted to get this straight as you said you are always able to open things, which I haven't tried out yet. I can only confirm that I am able to close it after turning the ignition off.

I was actually trying to make a joke about us lawsuit-happy Americans. My point was that it's hard to hurt someone by opening things, only closing things.

I don't think 11.2 will fix it cause that's the version I got when they installed my phone yesterday. Dealer says he will tech assistance on Monday.
