I purchased a lightly optioned '04 E60 14 months ago. (Premium, Cold Weather, Xenon, Saphire Black Metalic) Build date October 2003. (3 year old, 24 k miles)

What an amazing car. In the year plus I owned it - the following items were replaced.

Yesterday, I traded it in on another '04 E60. This one is optioned with Sport, PDC, Logic 7, Premium, Cold Weather, Xenon, Silver Grey) Buld date September 2004.

My hope is the issues I saw with #1 were due to being one of the first cars off the assembly line.

So far, I'm loving the upgrade to the Sport Package but have noticed a big drop in my fuel economy.

You tell me - am I a sucker for punishment?

It's easy to forget that 2004 now is four years old cars. Somtimes I have to stop myself from thinking that a 2000 is a brand new car...

    What models were they?

525 to a 530 or were they both 530s? Are you driving differently because of the sports package?

How big of a drop in fuel economy??

Plus how long have you had the newer E60? recently? Could it be the winter blend in fuel causing the lower MPG?

Its hard to say if you're a sucker for punishment if we dont know all the facts...

And what exactly do you mean "punishment?" That you just bought another E60 with problems?

An 04 is not really first off the assembly line.

The E60 was officially released beginning of July 2003.
So, even if yours would be the first ever US E60, everything it has was on the market allready for quite some time.

,,Quite some time`` would have to be more than eight weeks then because that is when the E60 was introduced into the U.S.

Sorry - that should have been 'Build date 2003'

It just seems like a lot of stuff failed for a 3 year old car with 30k miles. Love it - drives like a dream. Love it so much - bought another just like it .

I guess - i should have asked about other's reliability.

    Cheers - and Merry Christmas

I would have bought a different year for better luck. Hmm, Double_Trouble? Just like people who are abused at an earlier age and then later to become abusers or attracted to abusers themselves . . . Just being frank, that's all.

It's from Stevie Ray Vaughn and his band Double Trouble. But thanks for the drive by psych.
