Subs not working after new CCC installed? Amp is not the problem. Any ideas?
Hey guys,
I have a 2008 E61 535xi with the standard hi-fi stereo (non- Logic 7). The stereo was working properly then my CCC decided to have a terminal failure. Luckily the dealership stepped up and got it covered with goodwill and as of last month my CCC (and all the electronics related) are up and running.....with the exception of the subwoofers.
This is TERRIBLE news as I am a bass enthusiast. When a new CCC is installed the entire car has to be reprogrammed.
My first thought was that the car was coded incorrectly but I figured that is an unlikely scenario as the BMW tech at the dealership likely programs things based off the VIN# and even still, both the hi-fi and Logic 7 stereos use the same subwoofers.
My second thought was that there is a missing connection but I have taken my CCC out of the dash and there are only 2 connectors going into it; if the subs were disconnected then so would many other electronics.
This lead me to believe that the stereo amplifier was shot. I cringed at the thought of this as I anticipated it being a $xxxx item to replace (and it would be if I had a L7 system) but to my disbelief, used OEM amps were listed on ebay around the $100 range and I was able to snag one for $30 shipped. Unfortunately after connecting my replacement amplifier, there was no difference, the subs were still non-responsive.
Any ideas on how to get the subs working again?
Has anyone had a similar issue?
Anyone know where to find wiring diagrams for the E60/E61?
Thanks in advance,
Evan

either that or a damaged fiber optic cable? The CCC is a straight plug and play since you already had one installed. Coding should have been quick and simple. What does the dealer say since they changed this out?

I am trying to get back in and have them do some diagnostic work. I am assuming it should be a fairly straight forward process. When I originally told them of the issue, they told me it is unlikely related to coding and the subs or amp are probably blown, I responded telling them I bought another amp and it did not resolve the issue and the subs are probably fine as they were 100% prior to the CCC failing. We shall see. Thanks for the response.
