I thought 172 rims replaced the 135 rims as standard equipment on the M Sport Models for 2006 or 2007...?
At least this was what is offer outside the US.
I think the new 550i sport package with the 19" is great as the 530i already have 18" wheels on their sport package.

My Ride: 535d M-Sport '06 Plate - Carbon Black - Black Leather - Pro Sat Nav - Logic 7 - HUD - Bluetooth - Privacy Glass - 172M 19" Alloys - Heated Seats - PDC - Adaptive Headlights - Extended Voice Control - Paintshield Extended - M5 Boot Finisher - Bright White LED Internal Lighting - Dension Gateway 500 Ipod/USB/Aux Integration
As far as I know, you can't get RF's for the 19" over here. Something to do with the lack of space needed for the rubber. Might be wrong though.
The ride quality on mine with the 172's is superb though. Never have any problems.

Hi
I picked up a 8 month old 530 D Sport with the 19 inch 172 Mixed tyres and wheels today. They are very nice but will certainly need a bit of looking after, but hey shes worth it. Its dark now and I havent had a good look yet, but the car has a spare which I take it means they are not run flat, is that right?, the BMW brochure shows the 172M 19 inch as a non flat option. I will have a look in the morning for the tyre markings which will confirm either way. The ride is very nice and i have only had a hour or so to drive it and have a play as I had to take my wifes mini to get a new screen fitted after it was hit by a boulder (well a stone big enough to do damage, fortuantley only to the screen) Slightly off topic but can any of you recommend a good non aggressive cleaning solution for the alloys. I went to halfords today and bought a conical cleaning brush to get between the spokes but I wasnt happy that there was metal on metal contact between alloys and the spine of the brush. I also want to be able to keep the inside of the wheel clean and the 19 inchers seem pretty deep. I will post some pictures when its dry. In the UK we have a water shortage with the biggest recorded water fall for a century for February, only England

In answer to the post about the ride quality on the non run flat tyres I think they feel less floaty that the RF tyres. Im sorry that, that this isnt very tech, but just based on the difference between the RF equipped 525SE D that I part ex for a 530 D sport this morning and the drive home.

Thankfully, BMW haven't started fitting them yet
