Default Stumped and bout to loose it. HELP!

I just dont understand. Last week, it didnt want to start unless i cleared the DTC's with my snapon modis edge, then itd start right up. Got it home and replaced the starter, then upon starting it, a very noticeable ticking/knocking sound. Soo much soo that i immediately shut the car off. Then got brave and idled it long enough to gather as much diag info as i can, cyl 2 showed misfire code. Swapped ignition coil with cyl 4 to see if misfire moves, haven checked yet if it did or didnt. While doing so, i tried turning off each fuel injector one at a time, they all trurned on n off on command with the scanner except cyl 5. Cyl 5 injector had no change in the engine when turned off. Swapped it with cyl 3 and when starting the engine, the ticking/knocking was still there but changed its pitch in sound every 2-3 seconds and for about 1-2 seconds it completely went away and sounded PERFECT then it came back and started ticking again. Now im just stuck on what to do next. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank u.

Please check for vacuum leaks, first.

Was it a rough knocking sound? Are you sure you plugged everything back in? Doing the starter you should of replace the CCV hoses also because they always crack while changing the starter unless they were daily new.

After removing the intake again, to confirm that nothing had fallen into the valves, put it all back together, same ticking/knocking. Chanced it and just let it idle while poking around with a hose to my ear, listening where its coming from, then for 1-2 seconds it stopped and ran better than perfect, then starting making that sound again. My buddy even got in it and i told him FLOOR IT! WELL SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS IF IT FAILS! AT LEAST WE'LL KNOW FOR SURE WHY ITS KNOCKING. Snapon modis edge turned off each injector one at a time and the #5 had no change. Scan showed cyl 2 misfire. Still no idea what went wrong.

First off, Move coil No 2 to another cylinder and see if the fault moves, if so replace coil, Then do same with injector 5. A defective injector can give a tapping sound, use a stethescope or something similar at the injectors whilst it is ticking to identify the cause. I reckon you have two separate faults.

If this all began after you replaced the Starter, then either you broke a hose or didn't put things back together properly. The same thing happened to me after I replaced my Starter. I had misfires, rough idling and stalls while driving. I had inadvertently cracked a hose when putting things back together. I replaced that hose, and all was well.

I sure hope you replaced the intake seals while you were in there. That's usually a must do when replacing the Starter.

Yes, correct. Thats exactly what i did, i pulled the rail and injectors out all together, swapped the 5th injector with the 2nd, put it back together, started it up and of course still tick/knock sound but didnt get the modis edge on it to do functional test on the injectors yet. When the rail was removed with all the injectors, i ohm'ed em out and every single one had the exact reading by -0.1+

Ok, while idling and ticking/knocking, for kicks i pushed in the shradder valve, bubbles n air shot out, then stream of fuel......and aaaaall quiet now. I had that look on my face like i was just humiliated in front of people.

Hold on. How did you change the starter and you had bubbles in your fuel line? I've never heard of that before.
