Strange sounds
#1
I have new 530i!
Very often vhen i brake and stop i hear some kind of not loud but iritating bumping (usualy one bang) which is comeing from the back of my car(i think thats comeing from the back of my car but i am not 100% sure).
I went to service and they said that thats fuel hitting the edges of my tank which is normal thing, but that sounds unbelievably to me?
I know that the new bmw 5 is very quiet car and that you can hear things which you could not hear before in old bmw 3 or 5 but i just can't belive that's noise comeing from my tank...
What do you think could that be true?
Does anybody have that kind of problem? Help!

I think the dealer is right (this is not very often).
It happens to mine too, only with a certain level of the fuel, so not always.
Had it with my former E39 too.

Test it
Fill the tank all the way, and then test
With a full tank it shouldnt make any noise if that is the problem

maybe the fuel you are using is not soft enough! No tank should be making noises, certainly other e60s aren't noisy in that way. (maybe go for a test drive in a new model and see if it makes the same sound).
