Strange Sound when I stop the engine

Definitely not right. Sounds to me like something having to do with the transmission. Just a guess but cant think of anything else.

+1 first thought I had too,........or did someone forget to tighten a motor/transmission mount bolt?

well the bmw dealers said that the sound shouldnt be much of a problem. I just hope they're right.

Is your car Sports Suspension with Active Body Roll?

If so, my car has the same noise that comes from coming to a full brake stop.

Today its at the dealer so that the main Midwest BMW tech can look at it. Local dealers were not able to fix it.

I was informed by 2 dealers that the noise comes from Active Body Roll Control mechanism trying to reset itself.

I agree that something isn't right. It sounds as though something is hitting your airbox or another plastic piece. You can have someone turn the car off while you look for/ listen for where the sound is coming from under the hood. Sounds like something simple.
