Default A/c cold from center, hot from defrost @ same time

Been noticing that my car seems really hard to get cold over the last couple weeks. The AC blows cold on my face but the entire cabin doesn’t seem to get cool, enough overall... like a constant battle. Thought maybe my roof was just holding a lot of heat from the sun because the top of my head seemed to stay warm while the rest of me seem to be getting cooler. Lol
Noticed today that I’ve got hot air blowing (hard) out of my windshield defrost ducts as if the defroster is trying to be on at the same time that I’m trying to use AC. After fiddling around with the buttons for a while running through all the different modes, I was able to get it to slow down to a dribble out of the defrost. I think I remember hearing somewhere that the defrost always blows a tiny bit of hot air, which is fine, but this is obviously something different.

Not much on this particular problem when I search (forums, YouTube, google, anywhere).

Has anyone run across this particular problem before?

Thanks in advance for any info!

Pull your BMW specific error codes with a BMW compatable code reader, not a generic code reader from AutoZone or the like. You more than likely have a condensation sensor failure, located behind rear view mirror on windshield. Error Code will confirm if this is the problem in the IHKA system or not.

THANKS, I appreciate the interest. Do you happen to know if my JB4 code reader will work?

If this is it, then it’s kind of funny. A while ago (Dec 16, 2017, to be exact) I replaced smoking cigars with vaping. I NEVER smoked in my car, but I do now occasionally vape in the car. Usually I crack the windows but the day this (above situation) happened to me I was vaping with the windows up. I think the vapor triggered the condensation sensor into running the defrost! BMWs... too damn smart!

It didn’t happen today, and all things were equal except for the fact that today I was NOT vaping in the car on my way home from work.

P.s.
JB4 didn’t show any codes.
