After about 2mos of ownership, I've begun to notice a strange but definitely replicable behavior from my MP3 CD player in the dash. After the car runs for a while, say 20min of driving around, it slowly and progressively loses its ability to read MP3 CD's.

For example, when the car is cold, it will read all MP3 files on the CD just fine but after driving around for a while, the MP3 CD player will progressively stop being able to read MP3 files until it can't even read the whole disc anymore.

When I eject the disc, it's definitely warm, so I thought, by chance, maybe the heat causes the media to expand to the point that it's unreadable. However, since it's still winter, I was able to test this theory. I once ejected the disc when it would no longer read the files and just rolled down the windows and let it cool down again. However, the machine still won't read it. I've also tried different media and it also won't read.

Has anyone else's machine exhibited this strange behavior?

No - regardless of the temp it reads mp3's flawlessly. Suggest you try to replicate the behavior with a commercial music Cd to rule out mechanical / electronic problem with the drive or if it's your mp3 home-prepared cd's.
