Hi All,

Looking for everyone's experienced and valued opinion on this.

I've got a 05 545i and recently I've noticed a strange buzzing noise coming from just behind the centre consol dash near the air condition controls/DVD player area. The best I can describe...it's like a mini electric motor (soleniod) turning, giving a low freq buzzing noise. It not really loud, but if I have no sound, or am on low volumn, it's definately noticeable.

The noise lasts for about 10 seconds continuous at a time and it happens intermittingly. When I've heard the noise I've ejected both the DVD and CD out and the noise still there. It comes and then disappears.

Like with every noise problem, you take it to your dealer and can never reporduce it.

Has anyone experienced the same thing?

It's a motor for a cabin temperature sensor right behind the grill next to a temperature controls. In my car it usually makes noise when its cold outside, but disappears one cabin warms up. I am planning to replace it myself since list price for it about $45 (that's part #2 on the diagram)

I've noticed that too (2004 545) but thought it was the DVD drive reading the nav disc.. At least I know I'm not crazy. Now if only I could figure out what sounds like a bird tweeting in the passenger dashboard.. LOL

Awesome...thanks Bars Sun for the link aswell. Now I know I'm not crazy!! Now that you've pointed it out, I know that must be the problem.

Thanks Again.
