Hmm. I wonder if this is an Orient Blue thing. I have about 8-10 nasty chips on the front bumper after only 14000 Km. Yeah, I'll attribute some of that to my 200+Kph autobahn driving while passing trucks, but still...

I also had serious problems with swirl marks (introduced by 2 dealers) that took multiple visits to address. 'Course, the clear coat is probably gone from all the buffing they did.

Agreed -- The paint just sucks.

At 13K miles I have many potmarks and chips on the front bumper. Fortunately, with silver gray they dont really stand out, but when you look , they're there.

Yup, I drive mainly on So. Cal freeways, fast and probably too close, and have always had same issue with every car I've owned. I'm convinced its largely a driving style issue, and not the paint.

I can understand that in south cal is not so big risk to get stone chips, but think places where they scatter sand to prevent hazards of slippery! Now in spring time when snow start to melt and all that gravel is exposed! It's like a sand blast sometimes!

i have a collosal paint chip just on the bonnet just behind the nearside light cluster. Its about <-----------> long and has scraped away the clearcoat and is rather 'silver' to look at.

When cleaning ive noticed many many many many stonechips on the carbon black paint. Some are only noticeable when up close but irritating nonetheless.

And to those who have said 'theres no orange peel'...come look at my car. The easiest place to see it is the boot lid. The section which the roundel sits on (the flat bit) is so obviously orange peel. Its the same on every single dark coloured e60 ive seen including the m5.

I have been driving on dual carriageways and motorways over the last couple of months and the bonnet and front bumper of my car ia covered in stone chips, I do not recall ever hearing one hit the car most of the driveing is at 40.50 60 mph because of traffic. I am now pissed off with this paint to the point where I'm going to get rid of the car
