Stolen 5 Series M Sport 09
Guys, i've had my car for 8 days and last night my first BMW had vanished and i'm distraught this morning and to top it off its my birthday too.
As soon as the police left and while waiting on hold with the insurance company I searched online and noticed that these cars can easily be taken in under 3 mins and the alarm doesnt even go off. Watchdog did a report on this too.........
I had the 520d M Sport 09 Carbon Black 39k, took me 5 months to find it and now its gone....

I saw a video of a 1M get stolen in 3 mins. The pretty much lower the driver window plug a cable into the ODB port and unlock the car. The current way to combat this is to pull the fuse for the port.

If someone wants to steal anything [including the most secure car], they can. It's just a matter of how bad they want it.
All the alarms in the world are deterrents. Every system has at least one 'hole'. People who are motivated will find those holes and get it.

I had on my old 530, and insisted on having on my 550, a LoJack system as well as a separate GPS tracker. As PCY said, nothing can stop a truly motivated thief, however, I figure my way means that they can just hope the cops find them before I do

Its been a long day and i'm still in a state of shock however reality has kicked in now and a little disappointed that a car of that value has possibly one of the worse security flaws and for organised crime this is a piece of cake for them. Anyhow I think its important for BMW owners to be made aware of the problem and get this fixed from BMW themselves who are not treating this as a recall but as a free of charge fix assuming you contact them!!!
Hope I can save just one BMW owner from what i'm feeling like right now, sickening!!
