I just put black chrome tips on my e60 and love them-way nicer than painting. I also painted mine first a matte black so you did not see any silver underneath the black chrome.
1.sand chrome
2.spray on high temperature engine paint in matte black
3.do 3 coats with 15 minutes in between. Replace tips, then slide black chrome ones on

Not sure if these will fit exactly since they are for an x5 but if they fit that is the procedure. Since the underneath ones wont be seen much you do not have to be as precise painting them

I like to think of it as "encouraging autonomy in me fellow human beings" - a sort of way to help people "learn how to fish", if you will
