Guys, anyone happen to know what S/W version Stevens Creek BMW is installing right now? Getting an occassional iDrive freeze or unprompted reboot so I'd like to book the car in for an update. Would like to make sure I get the 16.2 update if possible so wondered if anyone knows if SCBMW has it yet.
cheers
Steve

I am going into the BMW SC service department tomorrow for the software update, I will let you know via the forum when I pick up the car.

I've asked BMW of mountain view and they still don't have the software 16.2 yet. i will be going to BMW Stevens Creek tomorrow as well to find out. I will send in my car to them if they have it, although i had some pretty bad experiences with them..

I left the car at SC BMW this morning with a "laundry list" of issues, including:

1. chirping and rattling sounds from engine compartment when engine is cold
2. squeal when using passenger side rear window
3. upload CIP 16.2 idrive software issues ? system hangs, corrupt images, bluetooth etc.
4. radio - ?popping? & ?crackling?
5. radio ? sometimes won?t turn off at all
6. radio and audio mute ? start up/turn off memory issue
7. DS mode ? lurching from random, early or hard shifts
8. please program each key for seat memories one and two
9. please program both profiles for daytime running lamps
10. if there is a cup holder revision available for the car, I will take them
11. a loose wire is under the rear passenger seat

I love the car, but does this symtoms sound familiar? SC BMW Service expects the car to be ready on Friday, everything is covered through the warranty and I received a new 3 series loaner...

Vansmac, I have had many of your issues so I'd like to know how they resolve them - I had my car in last month and got the "can not reproduce" response so hopefully they resolve yours.
Keep us posted
cheers

I just talked to SCBMW SA, and he said that they're currently on CIP 15.2.

Here is how to find out what your CIP and decode it:
Push down i-Drive knob for about 8 sec
Turn right 3 clicks
Turn left 3 clicks
Turn right 1 click
Turn left 1 click
Turn right 1 click
Push down i-Drive button
Go to VersionKontrolle
Scroll toward the bottom and here is the code:

CIP 16.1 E060-05-03-520
CIP 16.0 E060-04-09-555
CIP 15.2 E060-04-09-555
CIP 15.0 E060-04-09-555
CIP 13.3 E060-04-09-504
CIP 13.2 E060-04-09-504
CIP 12.0 E060-04-06-500
CIP 11.0 E060-04-03-505
CIP 10.1 E060-03-12-527
CIP 10.0 E060-03-12-525

Please go to your car and check and post it here to see if it's correct.
