After getting my car almost 'perfect' I'm now suffering from quite bad gear changes from 1st to 2nd and back to 1st in any mode, D, DS or 'manual'.

I thought 18.1 had solved all the 'transmission slam' problems but I'm sure mine is worse since having the update!

When accelerating from rest I get a bit of a lunge/jerk and 2nd seems to take an age to engage. I can't remember it being like that...

Sometimes when stopping the downshift to 1st jerks in quite noticably.

It seems worse when the car has warmed up, sometimes from cold it's fine.

All other changes (2nd to 6th) seem fine!?

This sounds more mechanical than electronic? Anyone?

Are you easy on the throttle? You may need to be more aggresive on the gas.

Tried both... Definitely more pronounced on small throttle but still does it with a bit more 'gas'...

You're not alone ... I have the same problem, but haven't been to the dealer yet to get resolved (not sure they have a solution for this one yet)

same here... but I am angry becuase the cars is in best situation when I take it to BMW dealer ???? this let me remember when I am sick and just arrive the hospital .. everything become fine .. no pains .. no temp. ... this theory works with me ??? always ...

last time they updated the CIP TO 18 as they said ?? but gear problem still there
check this link

CHECK THIS LINK

untill now I did'nt face slam problem agine but .. changing from 1th to 2th and from 2 to 1 is really unsmooth and feel a hit ... I told my advisor .. but I know that untill the gear is not really dead they won't take any action .....

they should make gear warrnty 10 years so we drive without thinking about having any problem with the gear ????

My car is booked in this Wednesday to have v19 applied - they think that may help... They also said the coding was a bit 'hit and miss' and can take 6 hours!

Please give us feedback once 19 is installed.

colejl: suggest you get the dealer to reset the AGS and clear the usage-pattern memory. Might help. All the Best, Hobi

Thanks - I wondered if there was some sort of 'reset'... I presumed this would be standard as part of the CIP - or have they missed something?
