Today while driving I shifted my 07 e60 550 into the "DS" mode and went to downshift when I noticed the car would no longer manually downshift in DS mode. It has no problem doing it on its own. Also, it will manually upshift. I figure a switch of some sort has failed.

Has anyone ever had this problem and if so what did it end up being?

I would try the transmission reset first. Hopefully it's just a glitch.

Not to randomly bring back an old thread, but everyone usually says search and this is my exact problem that happened this morning. I was in DS mode and when I tried to upshift (pull down) it did nothing. But the shifter still downshifts and I could feel a resistance when pushing up but not when pulling down. Anyone else ever get this problem resolved and was it hardware or electrical issue?
