OK guys, I'll be honest- I sometimes shift to DS when I'm at a stoplight with competetive cars next to me (esp. MB, Lexus, Infinity...) I know, reminds me of my younger days. Am I alone here, is there a cure? Seriously, when do you use DS mode and how often? Also add DSC/DTC application. Thanks.

I use sport mode often. I like the feeling of the sd. I dont like to use it on highway or major thru way but in nice roads like the one i have, sd is a most. It feels like if i am driving a bmw.

Always in sport, usually using gears not auto. Was in passenger seat with wife driving the other day. She did'nt know what sport was, so I slid it in sport for her, she was so excited.

SD around town (less than 50 kph) or when looking for that kick on secondary roads and D the rest of the time. SD seems to stop at 5th gear so I usually go for D on the Autobahn. Don't really use the manual mode at this point as DS downshifts are hard enough and I'm usually busy white knuckling the wheel trying to keep my neck from snapping back during acceleration to shift for myself. The break in period's over baby

I'm cruising through the Taunus and across the Grosser Feldberg about once a month just for fun and that's where I put it in DS. Alot of fun driving on these mountain roads where they actually test a lot of new cars, most of them heavilly disguised.
On daily use I'm not using the DS, just regular D.

Some citys up there:
K?nigstein, Glash?tten, Oberreifenberg, Niederrreifenberg, Oberems, W?stems, Reichenbach, Mauloff, Finsternthal, Oberlauken, Niederlauken, Gem?nden, Weilrod, Rod an der Weil, Neuweilnau, Altweilnau, Brombach, Dorfweil, Schmitten, Arnoldshain und Gro?er Feldberg, Sandplacken. When you drive the A5 up to the Bad Homburger Kreuz, transfer on to the A661 direction Bad Homburg, stay on street even when Autobahn ends, after the tunnel exit direction Feldberg, follow the street up into the mountains, you'll see two Restaurants and bus stations at the Sandplacken and turn left at that intersection...
Maybe you'll see me up there on those roads.

i think i'm couple days away to finish my break in period, aka torturing period . i've only tried it once but didn't floor it that time. i'm sure i'll use it more ofter later on, especially at the stoplight (same here) . but you have a 545, unless the guys next to you have a e55, clk55, s55, or any amg models, otherwise they won't be that "competitive" . especially the lexus owners. i don't think they want to embarrass themselves . sorry, no offend to the lexus owners .

Shifting into DS has become a habit. It started with my E39 525i where the difference in shift points between D and DS was more pronounced than in the E60. But for anything other than highway driving DS adds some additional fun to the ride. Especially for those of us with the smaller engines.
