My dad's got an '05 Lexus LS430, and he's got one of those auto/sport shift transmissions. It pretty much is the same in function with our Steptronic. But one thing that his manual says about the Lexus is that you shouldn't shift from Sport back to Auto mode if you are driving over 60 mph. They caution that shifting between modes over 60 mph will hurt the car.

Now in my new 535i Steptronic, I haven't seen anything in the manual regarding speed requirements. My assumption is that we can shift from DS mode to D mode or to M mode at any speed we're at...whether driving at 10 or 100 mph. You guys have any thoughts on this?

I can't say I have noticed any problems when switching the modes. I think you will be fine.

you can shift anytime. at anyspeed.
even in manual, the car wont let shift up too high or low so that engine gets damaged..

I noticed sometime it automaticaly shift up in manual,if u do gentle reving and gain the higher speed ( without reving all the way to the limit).
