I just got to work a little while ago, and ya know how the steering wheel adjusts itself after you turn off the car.
Well during that process it made a rubbing sound. Like as if it was almost forcing itself against something. I have yet to speak to my rep but do any one of you have or have ever had this problem?

Thanks for the help, i think this forum is always more helpful than going to the dealer itself.

i have the same problem... specially in hot days and never in winter. the dealer said that it is the plastic that makes that noise and if i really wont they can unmount everything under the steering wheel and have a look. but they would'nt suggest that.
so i have to live with that noise every day in the summer...
if any of you hear any solving 4 this problem... please tell us...

I have a 2004 E60 and my steering column made that noise especially on hot days. I complained to the dealer and initially they said it was the leather boot rubbing when the column moves up and down. I knew it was not. So when it happen again, I complained again and then they fixed it. They said it was a bushing in the steering column that needed changing. They kept my car for 2 days and worked on it. Since then it has not repeated. Luckily my car was under warranty at the time. Hope this helps
