Anyone experienced this? Not the same as the 'clunking', due to a joint that needs to be lubricated where the steering column meets the steering rack - had that problem, and it has been fixed. This is more like a rubbing sound coming very distinctly from the steering wheel... with luck it will be just a simple lube job, rather than some sort of problem with the standard (not Active) power steering .

My steering wheel has this faint, but noticable, clicking sound when I turn it. I think it might have something to do with the Active Steering. i've never asked about it, though.... because I usually don't hear it with the music on. :P

But the problem came back, rubbing sounds like it is from just befind steering wheel

That is it, in a nutshell. Out of interest, did you get an explanation as to why the whole steering column is being replaced?

Dealer said that the problem was due to some kind of nylon bush rubbing in steering mechanism. I stressed that I did not want it ' lubricated ' again, but fixed properly ( as where in the service schedule does it say oil the steering column bushes every 6 months !!, its not as if you can do it yourself ).
