Default Steering Wheel Airbag Removal Help

I can't seem to unlock the airbag on the steering wheel. I've checked out countless threads and videos so I know the procedure, but I just can't get a hold of the spring. I tried a flat head screwdriver and torx screwdrivers of different sizes, only a philips screwdriver was able to merely nip the spring. I looked into the hole with a flashlight and there was only a flat horizontal metal piece in there. Is this normal?

Btw I have a 2004 530i sport steering wheel

I've done this several times already and ran into the same issue when I switched to the sport steering wheel. From my experience on my car at least, you really need to come up at perfectly a straight approach or else you'll miss the release lever. I use a T Handle Hex key and it does the trick each and every time. With this tool you have a large enough flat surface that will make contact on the lever and won't slip. GL

f10 m5 reps. cheap good looking wheels. I'm running a box setup tho. 9.5 all the way around. most vendors only sell the set as a staggered setup but u might be able to sweet talk one of them to sell you 4 rears.

Thanks for the info! Interesting...any specific reason why you chose box setup?

My previous setup was 9.5 in the front that required rolling and pulling of the fenders. The standard 8.5 fronts were too dinky and the concavity on them were not good enough for me.

I see. So if I were to get the 9.5s in the front, would I have to get my fenders rolled? Also, is your car lowered at all?
