My wife has a 2006 530 xi. We replaced the orginal wheels and tires with 18 inch BBS RGR forged alloys and Michelin Pilot Sport AS tires about 8000 miles ago with no issues. Recently, she has noticed an intermittent issue in which the steering pulls sharply to one side (the left, I think) when she comes to a stop. It does not happen every time she stops, but it happens enough not to be related to road conditions, etc. It happens infrequently enough that I am anticipating the dealer will say they cannot replicate the problem unless I can identify a specific possible cause.

Has anyone experienceed a similar issue? I wonder if it is somehow related to x-drive?

I would appreciate any help anyone can offer.

If you put 245/40/18 size tires on the car, I stronly suspect the car is 'tramlining'. Wide tires with short sidewalls have bad habit of following grooves in the road that you would normally not notice with narrower and taller tires. My car does the same thing and I am sure others on this forum have this happen on occasion as well . When I put my snow tires on, which are 225/50/17, the tramlining goes away.

I had this problem on my e46 and it turned out to be control arm bushings. They were replaced under warrantee.

got the same thing on my car doesnt happen alot only on certian roads and mostly aggressive braking...
i think i have a small alignement problem will get it fixed in my next dealer visit... but im dont like to keep my car at the dealler other than regular service periods so untill then i have made sure the tyre preasures are correct and really helped with this problem.. could also be because of the half worn RFTs....
