I jumped in the car yesterday and have a red steering wheel with a lock symbol on my dash.
also have a steering lock malfunction message on I drive.
Everything is working as normal, car starts fine, also steering lock is active when the car is off and disables itself when I start the car.
Is there any way to just 'code out' the steering lock sensor?
Will clearing codes on a diagnostic machine do anything? I read in another thread there is some kind of count that tracks how fast the lock disengages and if it's slower than it should be for 'x' times it'll flash this warning.
That's an ELV issue? How old is your battery? Once problem is identified then an ELV counter reset can be initiated. Recommend looking at the codes and check battery before proceeding
12.3v IGN off
14.0v whilst running
Drops to about 10.5v whilst it starts
The steering lock sure sounds healthy, doesn't sound as though it's struggling to engage/disengage.
Seems very strange that I didn't get any yellow warnings, just straight to a red warning.
and without any issues with the steering lock system too.....
