Took my car to the dealer today for a couple of faults, noisy clutch pedal, they greased it and said they have done a few and it never comes back! Needs new airbag module but they have switched it off until the new one comes in and its ok just now.
Anyway to my main point, when i first got the car i thought the steering was a bit stiff so booked it in for today and i told them that i was getting more used to it but that when on full turning lock and mainly when reversing there was a knock from the steering wheel. To be honest is was very slight, anyway turns out i need a new steering column, thankfully all under warranty. My car has done 66,000 miles but im still surprised it needs a new column.
Just watch out for it though cause it was not really noticeable just a very slight knock coming through the steering.

cheers

something need replacing my my steering column at around 35000 km, i dont remember it was a steering gear or steering rack... i think it was a common problem on early e60s..... i have now developed a new squek, the car is going in tomorow for an inspection/service.. i really hope nothing is wrong even if it is under warrantee.

never thought what caused it...cause around here, we have some of the harshest weather.. Sand, dust...high humidity...high temp....cars really hate this kind of weather...
