Hello and Good afternoon-
Finally figured out why mu DTC system is activating it's self. The Steering angle sensor needs to be replaced. Dealer part @ $500.. Is this my only option?? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Patrick

Mine failed while still in warranty ... guess I'm saddened to hear this (common) part failure is somewhat pricey.

I had the issue when I got the car. The warning lights would turn on at random times when I just turn the steering wheel. Restarting the car clears the lights but eventually it turns on again. Eventually, the dealer took care of it by replacing the steering angle sensor.
Another option? Depending on your car model, it could be part of a recall. Mine was part of that so look into it.
When the sensor is changed, the dealer would have to activate it and program it with what functions your car has. When I got mine replaced, they forgot to reactivate my steering column adjuster. I had to bring the car back so they can reactivate it. So make sure every button and levers work on the steering wheel when you get the car back.
Good Luck!

BTW, when I was researching my issue I vaguely recall reading that the sensor is prone to dust and that some people just sprayed it with a can of air to clean it off. This worked for some of them. If you're inclined to take the steering wheel off following a DIY (in this forum) maybe you can try it.

I'll start by digging into the wheel ! Thanks for the tip.. Last wheel I removed seemed to work just fine, (all except the horn)

Try turning your steering wheel left to right repeatedly to reset it.(This is what the dealer told me to do.) Ya, that did not work.
