Thank you all for your kind words... I am going to write a letter to the general manager. It is not like I can't afford it, that is not the point. The point is they are ripping people off.

I have always been like this but when it came to this car (being my first new car) I thought I would let them handle it.

Maybe it helps to tell your dealer that you are about to send a letter to the importer of the car (assuming this is BMW USA) about
your dealer charging outrageous prices.
350USD for plugs and 400USD for some bulbs is nothing short than ridiculous.

A close friend of mine who owns his own shop just changed out all six coil packs on a 530i because it idled rough and had hesitation when accelerating. He first just changed out one of the coil packs to see if it made a difference and it did so he asked the customer if she would like to change the rest and she agreed. Customer's car runs perfect now. Each coil pack runs about $80 here so may be cheaper in TX. Hope this helps and good luck!

Terrible dealers giving otherwise good cars a terrible reputation... BMW NA has to intervene in these practices, this is absurd. There's no legitimate reason in the world for the problem to keep coming back, other than either total incompetence or intentional pro-longing of repairs to bill as much as possible on the dealer's part. In either case, BMW NA should take a close and hard look at these jokers.

Tones, hope this ends up working out for the better, hang in there!
