My Ride: UK 2005 530d E61
I have a Apr '05 E61 and have a problem with noise from the brakes on light braking (moderate/heavy is fine). The noise seems to be coming from the right hand rear (at least that's the worst offender). I got a bit fed up with it sounding like someone was 'scratching their nails down a blackboard' when cruising thorugh our quiet country village so I went to the dealer today. They checked the car and say it's caused by a pad sensor - it is a known problem with E60/61 and that they are awaiting a fix from BMW.

Yup about two weeks ago. It happens, they grind down the sensors or something like that and it's all gone. I thinks it common.

Exact same problem from the same wheel - the right hand rear wheel. Anyway the dealer here said they'd clean the brakes to eliminate the noise. I have heard of the sensor problem also. I'll bring it up to them when I send my ride in.

The one that was making the noise is the same wheel - the (pass) right hand rear wheel.
Now it's all gone

[/quote]You're wrong! You cannot take out of your car such an important safety device like the brake disc! WD40 is a better option.....
