My Ride: UK 2005 530d E61
Default

I have a Apr '05 E61 and have a problem with noise from the brakes on light braking (moderate/heavy is fine). The noise seems to be coming from the right hand rear (at least that's the worst offender). I got a bit fed up with it sounding like someone was 'scratching their nails down a blackboard' when cruising thorugh our quiet country village so I went to the dealer today. They checked the car and say it's caused by a pad sensor - it is a known problem with E60/61 and that they are awaiting a fix from BMW.

Any views?

Yup about two weeks ago. It happens, they grind down the sensors or something like that and it's all gone. I thinks it common.

Just schedule service

To spray a little bit of WD40 on the rotors should work fine......

Exact same problem from the same wheel - the right hand rear wheel. Anyway the dealer here said they'd clean the brakes to eliminate the noise. I have heard of the sensor problem also. I'll bring it up to them when I send my ride in.

The one that was making the noise is the same wheel - the (pass) right hand rear wheel.

Now it's all gone

You might as well suggest them to take the brake out altogether.

You're wrong! You cannot take out of your car such an important safety device like the brake disc! WD40 is a better option.....
